St. Sebastian and St. Roch

Church of San Vidal, Venice, Italy

St. Sebastian is the one who is nearly naked, as he is most often pictured. His right arm is tied to a nearly invisible tree, and an arrow or dart pierces his left side. An angel has come for him, and another angel reaches down to him with a palm branch, symbol of martyrdom.

St. Roch is identified by his pilgrim's staff and by the lesion on his right thigh, the hallmark of bubonic plague.
